We like beer at Buckets & Spades, we know you know this. We'd probably review a lot more, if we had the time. We're particularly keen on the design of beer brands and labels (check out Mat's book); but, as always, flavour comes first. We were sent over some beers by Badger Ales to try over New Year, so here's our verdict.
Leaping Legend and Firkin Fox (where do they get these names?) score well on both counts. Both I'd describe as session beers, with Leaping Legend the more fruity and Firkin Fox the more hoppy. Easy to drink and refreshing, but Leaping Legend wins for me.
I'm starting to enjoy a more citrus flavour to my beer, so both of these beers were a winner for me. I just need to work my way through the rest of the Badger Ales. I know Mat has tried a few more of their beers; Golden Glory, Tangle Foot + Blandford Flyer. They're a Northern staple clearly!
Has anyone else tried a beer from Badger? If you have any beer labels you particularly love, don't forget to share them with us! Nik
